Selank
Price on application
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analog of the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, with an added Pro-Gly-Pro sequence for enhanced stability. It is researched for its anxiolytic, nootropic, and immunomodulatory properties.
Research Profile
Selank was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences as a stabilized analog of the endogenous tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg). The addition of a Pro-Gly-Pro C-terminal tail significantly increases its half-life and bioavailability. Selank exerts anxiolytic effects comparable to benzodiazepines without sedation, dependency, or withdrawal. It modulates GABA-ergic and serotonergic neurotransmission, enhances BDNF expression, and stabilizes enkephalin metabolism. Its immunomodulatory properties include enhancement of IL-6 expression and modulation of T-helper cell balance. Selank has regulatory approval in Russia as an anxiolytic and nootropic agent.
