Thymosin Alpha-1
Price on application
Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28-amino acid peptide originally isolated from thymic tissue. It is a potent immunomodulator that enhances T-cell maturation, dendritic cell function, and cytokine production, with approved clinical use in over 35 countries.
Research Profile
Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) was first isolated by Allan Goldstein from Thymosin Fraction 5, a partially purified extract of bovine thymus. It is an N-terminally acetylated peptide that plays a fundamental role in immune system maturation and regulation. Tα1 enhances T-cell differentiation and function by promoting the expression of T-cell receptor complex molecules and co-stimulatory markers. It stimulates dendritic cell maturation, augments NK cell cytotoxicity, and modulates cytokine production toward a Th1-dominant response. Marketed as Zadaxin, it has regulatory approval in over 35 countries for treatment of hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and as an immune adjuvant in cancer therapy. Research continues into its applications for immunodeficiency, chronic infections, and vaccine enhancement.
